If there is something like the true face of contemporary Nigerian literature, this is probably it. Okeh belongs to a generation of authors who have respectfully moved on from post-colonialism and is a type of writer who, rather than participating in the rising middle-class's obsession with the dilemmas of identity, is hard at work supplying the reading public with good, memorable stories.
Ikenna skillfully uses language with a poetic and magical flair, rhythmically drawing the reader in to the worlds he creates but without straining meter or rhyme. His characters, always painted with great humanity, inhabit vibrant African landscapes brought vividly to life as he weaves their destinies into intriguing tales that expose and explore the human condition.
Ikenna’s writing is simple, entertaining and strikes to the soul, whether it is poetry or prose he chooses as a medium for expressing his thoughts or observation. I dare to say he is a rarity and my favourite choice for African writing. There’s no doubt he was born to do this because I personally see his every works as a blessing and gift to the world.
